Diywoman supports the National Breast Cancer Foundation

In bringing a new and exciting women's brand to the DIY market we here at diywoman feel that it is important to give something back to the community - in particular an organisation that supports the health and well being of Australian women.

By being a Bronze Partner of the National Breast Cancer Foundation of Australia, diywoman is fortunate to be associated with a not-for-profit organisation that is making unparalleled advancement into researching the causes and potential treatment and solutions of this prominent life threatening disease.

As part of our commitment, a portion of the sale of every item in the diywoman range directly contributes to raising funds for the NBCF Kathleen Cunningham Research Grant. Currently diywoman is funding the work of Dr Murk Bottema from Flinders University and his research on “Computer-aided Temporal Analysis of Screening Mammograms”.

Dr Murk Bottema has developed a set of computer programs to help radiologists detect a particular type of breast cancer that is difficult to spot with regular mammography screening. Our funding helps him to test and improve his programs, so that cancers are not missed and women are not called back for more invasive screening procedures. The ultimate goal of his research is to improve early detection of breast cancer and we are proud to be a part of this contribution.
